Biking up Mt. McIntyre, down to Fish Lake, and out Fish Lake Road is a nice alternative to the Alaska Highway from Robert Service Way to Porter Creek.
Taking the route this direction is steeper than heading up Fish Lake Road, though it did not feel like it, and I enjoyed this direction more than when I biked up Fish Lake Road about a month ago. It’s less travelled, and offers greater rewards on the way up.

A leisurely pace took about 2 hours up, including a phone call with some good news (no, not baby #3 yet—the waiting being the reason I chose a trip offering cell service).
You can see to Lake Laberge over the city and through the hail from the top:

It’s a short descent to Fish Lake (longer with a bicycle seat that’s come loose…I’ll pack hex keys from now on…), but then it’s pretty much all downmountain to my front door.
It’s an enjoyable local ride, and healthier than the other “MacFish”.
